Welcome to a new week. And this week is extra special because I’m dubbing Wild & Free Entrepreneurship Week where I’m giving you the process for:
⚡️ Redesigning Your Life to be Wild & Free (Even If You’re Stuck in a Corporate Job or Income-Generating Commitments That Are Costing You Your Freedom). ⚡️
Day 1, we talked about what you want your wild & free life to look like (because that concept will shape every decision you make moving forward).
On day 2, we talked about who you want to be a hero to and who you imagine reading your content while hiding in the closet with a box of thin mints, thankful they found you.
Today’s the day we look at whether that dream and those people can flesh out into something that’ll be fun for you to pursue for years to come and put money in your bank account. The reality is, sometimes an idea can sound excellent, but when you start putting it into motion, it turns out it wasn’t quite as glitzy and glamour-filled as you’d hoped.
In other words, this is the refinement process where you get to distill those big lofty ideas of “starting a business” (such a huge, cloudy, statement). Focusing on “starting a business” or “side hustle” is all about you. It’s about your ego. It’s about your pride. It’s about your bank account. It’s about your so-called professional purpose.
But the reality is, in order for an idea to take flight, it has to be filtered through the lens of them — the people you decided you wanted to start a business for.
And that’s what we’re doing today, while still keeping your dreams for a wild & free existence front and center.
What’s the point of this whole endeavor?
To understand whether your idea has meat on the bones that can nourish your people (such a savage analogy, but go with me here), you have to cut it a few different ways.
Yesterday we spent some time brainstorming on exactly who we wanted to talk to, and today we’re going to brainstorm on the exact promise we want to bring to them. Here are some various angles you can play with as you decide the specifics of your business’s promise.
- Test and report: A business that tests and reports back on the best of a certain category (your category), giving your audience the inside scoop into what’s good and what’s not so they don’t waste time or money.
- Scavenger hunt: A business that’s consistently on the hunt for the best or most unique examples in its industry. Think food channel meets travel channel here.
- Niche down: A business that snuggles into a niche within an industry, such as minimalist, adventure, eclectic, etc. Think real estate in a very specific area or landscape.
- Fact finding: A business that gets to the heart of a matter pulling out myths and helping people stay on track toward their goals. Think bookkeeping or accounting for people in a specific role who aren’t sure what advice to listen to.
There are so many ways you can go about finding your angle. Think Codie Sanchez and boring businesses. Think Seth Godin and daily, short newsletters.
The point here is to choose one angle that will be your angle and work it into what you really want for your life. If you can do that, you have an idea worth pursuing.
Then, the only true test is to get it out into the world and see how it lands.
Listen to feedback.
Welcome audience replies.

Because starting a business is identical to starting a new experiment. Every time you’re taking an educated guess, giving the experiment your best shot, and checking out the results as they come in. While this might feel ENORMOUSLY uncomfortable, it’s the only way.
And guess what? Every. Other. Business. Owner. Out. There. Ever. Has. Done. The. Same.
Everyone tries without knowing. Everyone predicts without 100% certainty. Everyone puts themselves out there in a way that feels refreshingly like YOU rather than every other Joe Schmo who’s ever attempted to cut into this industry.
It’s that bold action that’ll give you the reassurance you want. For now? It’s time to create some content and have a whole lot of fun in the process.
P.S. I'd love it if you replied and let me know what you're itching for. Help with that bold action? Ideas for what to share? Support in setting up the backend of your business? Something else entirely? Let's chat!
