Wild & Free

[Day 5]: How to Write Your Hook

Welcome to the final day of Wild & Free Entrepreneurship Week, where I’m giving you the process for:

⚡️ Redesigning Your Life to be Wild & Free (Even If You’re Stuck in a Corporate Job or Income-Generating Commitments That Are Costing You Your Freedom). ⚡️

As a reminder, here’s where we’ve been:

Today we’re rounding out this series with a simple framework for how you’ll push through the “what ifs” running through your mind, take up space with your ideas, and hook people into your vision so you can cultivate a community of enthusiasts with you at the helm. In other words, let’s make you the Jack Sparrow of your niche, leading your sailors through a sea of chaos (because there’s always chaos) with charisma and confidence.

Making it Easy to Say HECK YES to YOU!

Perhaps one of the hardest parts about showing up every day and building habits around your marketing is when growth feels stagnant.

You post on social media and don’t gain new followers (been there).

You send emails, but you bleed more subscribers than you gain (been there too).

You build a blog but traffic stays flatlined (been there as well).

Putting yourself out there for the world to see, judge, and nitpick is hard. It’s even harder when you’re not seeing the outcome you want from that massive undertaking.

Let me offer some encouragement: If you’re putting your ideas into the abyss of the Internet without results, it’s not you that’s not attractive; it’s your hook.

You are fantastic. You’re fabulous, fun, full of ideas, and freely giving of yourself to help others. I don’t have to know you to say that because you’re on day 5 of this series eager to learn how you can take the thing that’s been laid on your heart and give it to others. YOU ARE A GIFT!

The gift isn’t being opened, cherished, and then getting thank you letter after thank you letter after receiving because your hook isn’t bringing in the right recipient. And the reason it’s not is because it’s not quite clear what’s waiting on the other side of that opt-in, sale, or download. In other words, you’re not answering:

What’s in it for them?

To help, I have a formula for you to play around with and swap out that will bring more people into your world who have been wishing for this gift of yours for years. Here it is:

[PROMISE]

[WHAT’S GETTING LEFT BEHIND]

[WHAT THEY’LL GAIN]

[WHAT YOU’RE OFFERING]

[WHO IT’S FOR]

That might seem long but smashed together, it’s really only a few sentences that can fit the character limit in an Instagram bio. Here are a few examples.

Wedding planner for nomadic brides:

Plan a wedding from the road. Leave your standard checklists to the static couples; learn how to personalize and simplify your big day with the only wedding planner who supports the nomadic lifestyle.

Project consultant for non-profits:

Bring in bigger donations and dollars to your cause. Put behind exhausting strategies that burn out your team and volunteers; learn how the most successful nonprofits regularly amplify their impact in a supportive space for forward-thinking non-profits.

Nonfiction fantasy book author:

Dive deeper into the stories you love. Go behind the scenes; see how your favorite characters come to life and live on long after you finish the last page in a private community for fantasy fanatics.

Swish it around in your mouth. Practice saying it out loud. Put it in your voice and play around with it. Test it. Tweak it some more. Make it your own.

The idea here is to breathe life into your positioning statement and get people hooked onto you on your opt-in page, home page, bios, and more.

That’s a wrap on this series! I hope it was helpful for you. More than that, I hope you take these ideas and put them into motion so you can cultivate a life of spaciousness, stability, and, of course, sensational memory-making adventures.

P.S. I'll be back to regular programming next week, but I'd love to hear what you thought about this series and where you are in your business. Please reply. Not only does it help deliverability but WAY MORE IMPORTANTLY it helps me get to know you. And I care about you because everything I create here is for you. So, what's on your business mind today Reader?
