Wild & Free

nevertheless...

When I had my first baby, I was in the thick of freelancing.

I spent hours at networking events (the local Chamber of Commerce even threw me a baby shower).

I spent hours in meetings.

I spent hours away from my computer doing the actual work I love doing (writing).

Needless to say, that lifestyle just wasn't going to work while I raised my son. And it certainly wasn't going to work with two babies under two, which happened just a year and a half later.

Thankfully, I had my network to lean on.

At 8-months pregnant with Corbin (my oldest), I was invited into a small group online for entrepreneurs with babies. It was in this group that I developed a profound network of other women who were DOING THE THING! We laughed together, cried together, referred each other business, and showed up big for one another through all of life's ups and downs.

We still do.

One of the women in the group, Melissa Camilleri, had a business called Shop Compliment when I joined (which she has since given to another incredible female entrepreneur). I bought this mug from her and still love it.

I snapped this picture about a half hour ago while sipping coffee and watching the sunrise. I love it because it reminds me of the times I persisted through the hard stuff with a group of other women by my side who get it.

I love it because the sentiment is a nice reminder of the power of persistence.

And I love it because I know who made it — a woman in my network who will always cheer me on.

On this International Women's Day, I want to invite you to the same type of circle as Melissa Camilleri, Angela Greaser (another angel of a person whom I met in that same group years ago), and Sheri Salata (yes, the Sheri Salata, former Executive Producer of The Oprah Winfrey Show).

These women know a thing or two about linking arms to create massive good in the world, and they'll show you how you can be part of this movement, too.

Join me in persisting through the hard and the beautiful seasons of entrepreneurship next Wednesday at The Smart Woman's Secret to Networking hosted by The Prosper Network, a group I'm enormously proud and honored to be partnered with.

The monetary value of being in that room is free, but the power, profits, and purpose you'll walk away feeling will change you.

P.S. If you're ready to build your own content-fueled, life-first business, here are a few ways I can help:
