Wild & Free

Something's changed

Hey Reader!

Next week, I'll be kickstarting a free series on the state of homeschooling.

That's because I've noticed that something's changed.

A lot has changed, actually, but one subject in particular isn't being explored enough — homeschooling.

The pendulum has swung from in-home education to classroom education, and back to center again. Now, more families are ditching the time apart in exchange for time together. And a lot of that has to do with the fact that the Internet has made it even easier for moms to earn money while homeschooling their kids.

I know because I've been running my business from home since my kids were born.

When it came time to decide whether we kept our kids in a school setting that wasn't serving their needs or homeschool, the choice for us was clear. Still, it brought up a lot of questions for me:

  • Am I cut out for this?
  • How do I even approach teaching my kids academics (I'm *not* a great kid's school teacher despite all my childhood goals)?
  • What will our days look like?
  • What *should* our days look like?
  • Can I keep running my business?
  • What about the time I cherish where I get to listen to the podcasts I like and watch my trash TV without kids listening in?
  • Will I lose myself? My health? My sanity?

While the jury is still out on that last question, one thing I know is that we're happy. We're also still in figure-it-out mode, especially since we started this journey mid-year.

So, to help me personally prep for next year and get a handle on what's happening in other homes, I put together a survey of homeschooling moms.

It's anonymous. There's no opt-in to fill it out. It's there for anyone who wants to share their own experience.

Next week, I'll gather the data and tell you what I'm seeing to hopefully inspire your own family's venture into the homeschooling world...

... because this has truly been the most beautiful and important shift we've made as a family, and I am enormously grateful for every minute (even the hard ones).

You've got this mama! I'll show you that you're not alone starting next week.

P.S. Know of a homeschooling/on-the-verge-of-homeschooling mom who'd be interested in the results? Forward her this email to sign up here for next week's series.
